The homeless are not faceless,
sculpture by Eugene Clark

The homeless are not faceless, a 12'x 9'sculpture by Eugene Clark. Many people view the homeless as a menace to society, filling a need to find an "other" to cast out, along with American society's numerous “others,” the exclusion of racial minorities, and the shaming of LGBTQ people, to name a few. I am interested in confronting this accepted shaming, through large portraits of these "others", who have the added misery of being extremely visible, therefore receiving even more poignant ridicule. This sculpture was selected for exhibit in the ArtPrize 9 exhibition, Grand Rapids, MI.
